Benefit Performance Raises $8000 for Compassion Programs

WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- Unmasked: The Phantom of the Flopera, an original musical parody produced by The Spirit of Broadway, was a smashing success.  The congregation at First Metropolitan Community Church of Atlanta hosted Unmasked on Saturday, June 9th to benefit the church’s Compassion Programs, including its Food Bank, Weekly Hot Meal for the Homeless and Needy, the Clothing Closet and other outreach initiatives.  The benefit, now in its third year, raised a record breaking $8000 which is more than a 30% increase over prior years.  Unmasked was so well-received that The Spirit of Broadway is currently in negotiations with two Atlanta area theatres to produce a finalized version of the show this fall or winter, including an original parody score.

ATLANTA -- How often is a musical rated 'O' for Offensive?  Trevor Petty, the writer and producer of this original show, thinks not often enough.  Unmasked: The Phantom of the Flopera is exactly that, hilariously and equally offensive and laugh out loud fun.  This original show comes with this warning: Unmasked is an equal opportunity offender, without regard to race, religion, gender, political affiliation or sexual orientation and has been rated "O" for “Offensive” by the Committee Against Creativity in America (CA-CA).  The show is produced by The Spirit of Broadway.
