It's back! After a sensational and fully sold-out first run at the Center for Puppetry Arts, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer™ is soaring back into town to once again charm Atlanta audiences this holiday season. You won’t want to miss this faithful adaptation of the wonderful holiday tradition that speaks to the misfit in all of us.

Adapted and directed by the Center’s Artistic Director, Jon Ludwig, the production is based on the beloved 1964 stop-motion animated special and provides the audience with the opportunity to experience the timeless tale of Rudolph and his misfit friends live on stage. Opening on November 3, Ludwig’s faithful adaptation includes all of the beloved characters such as Hermey, the elf who is an aspiring dentist, Yukon Cornelius, and the Abominable Snow Monster.

Atlanta Gets Grinched: The Grinch Set to Make Community Appearances October 22-23

You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch … The holiday-loathing star of “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas The Musical” is set to make his mark on the city as he prepares for the Atlanta debut of his touring Broadway musical, playing at the Fox Theatre from November 29-December 4. Families will have the chance to get up-close-and-personal with the misunderstood green villain himself during this special visit to Atlanta.

The appearance schedule for The Grinch is as follows.  Unless otherwise noted, The Grinch will be available for autographs, photos and more!

Saturday, October 22

  • Barnes & Noble: Book Reading and Press Conference (11 a.m.-12 p.m.)

The Grinch will entertain little ones with a reading of his story, and he’ll be available for photos after the book reading.

It’s Nature’s World; Charles Darwin Just Lived Here

 

Set a course for adventure and peer into Charles Darwin’s world as you join his voyage of discovery in the new special exhibition Darwin. Visitors will take a journey to the 19th century as they encounter diverse species from the Galapagos, fascinating fossils, scientific tools, and the incredible discoveries of Charles Darwin (1809-1882).

On view at Fernbank Museum of Natural History in Atlanta from September 24, 2011 through January 1, 2012, Darwin offers an engaging and enlightening glimpse into the extraordinary life and mind of Charles Darwin, whose curiosity, observations and discoveries over 150 years ago forever changed the perception of many species on Earth, including humans, and is the foundation for modern biological science.

Callaway Gardens Harvest Moon Festival Tickets Giveaway

On Oct 6-9, Callaway Gardens plays host to the first ever Harvest Moon Festival, a family-friendly music and food event like no other.

The festival kicks off Thursday, Oct 6 with our Harvest Feast, hosted by The Food Network’s Claire Robinson.  Robinson will provide a demonstration on how to use fresh ingredients and then guests will dine on a farm-to-table dinner while taking in performances from a diverse trio of talented singer-songwriters, including Joe Purdy and Nic Cowan.

Weekend musical guests include Georgia’s own B-52s, Mat Kearny, Shawn Colvin, the Gin Blossoms, and Big Head Todd, just to name a few.  In between sets you can sample food from some of the area’s finest farm-to-table restaurants.  We’ll also have college football on TV so you won’t miss a snap, and an expanded Farmers Market featuring local produce, baked goods and more..

'Atlanta Art Lives Here' campaign to give face to local arts

ATLANTA -- More than 20 Metro Atlanta arts organizations have launched a unique collaboration to increase interest in the area's robust arts and culture offerings.

Dubbed "Atlanta Art Lives Here," the campaign uses local arts trivia and branding images to educate North Georgians about their many opportunities to enjoy the arts. It is funded competely by the participating organizations and spearheaded by Atlanta PlanIt, a service of Public Broadcasting Atlanta.

"Arts organizations are experiencing new and unique funding challenges," Nicole Jones, editor of Atlanta PlanIt, said in a statement.
