DULUTH, Ga. – An off-duty officer helped to apprehend a carjacking suspect, earlier this week.

According to a police report, 19-year old Mitchell Hart held a victim at gunpoint, and then stole his car in the parking lot of the Studio 6 Hotel on Breckinridge Boulevard.

An off duty officer, in the area, heard about the carjacking on his radio and pursued the vehicle until the suspect stopped the car and fled on foot.

After a foot pursuit, the suspect was located hiding in a parked vehicle. The officer placed the suspect under arrest and he is being charged with Hi-Jacking a Motor Vehicle, Armed Robbery, Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officer and V.G.C.S.A. Possession of a Schedule IV drug. The suspect was transported to Gwinnett County Jail and is being held without bond.
