ATLANTA – The forecast may call for cold weather, this weekend, but the Where U Live team has listed plenty of activities to entertain, both, you and your family on this easy going weekend leading up to the holiday. Check them out:

After his retirement on Friday, Regis Philbin will be visiting the Book Festival at the Marcus Jewish Community Center on Sunday, November 20 to talk about his memoir “How I Got This Way”. Philbin is scheduled to arrive around 3:00 p.m. The event will be held at the Zaban Park facility in Dunwoody. Be sure to purchase tickets for this event soon, tickets are guaranteed to sell out; this event will conclude the 20th Edition of the MJCCA Book Festival.

Gwinnett celebrates America Recycles Day

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Gwinnett officials are planning the county's second annual America Recycles Day celebration.

Hosted by the Gwinnett County Solid Waste Division, the event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 19 at Coolray Field, home of the Gwinnett Braves.

"This event emphasizes the importance of environmental sustainability for the future of Gwinnett County, in addition to giving back to those in need," said Tom Keith, director of the Solid Waste Division.

In addition to recycling, paper shredding, tire disposal and electronics turn-in, the celebration will include touch-a-truck displays, family activities, giveaways and refreshments. There will be a $10 fee to recycle televisions; everything else is free. Attendees are encouraged to bring canned food for the Salvation Army.

Coolray Field is located at 1 Braves Avenue in Lawrenceville.

ATLANTA -- Applebee's expects to serve more than one million free meals to veterans and active duty military this Veterans Day.

This is the third year in a row that the Kansas City, Mo.-based chain restaurant has held its Thank You Movement to show appreciation for the brave men and women who serve our country.

And part of that movement includes allowing members of the military to eat for free on Friday, Nov. 11.

Active duty military members and veterans can receive their free food from 11 a.m. to midnight.

ATLANTA -- Halloween is over, which means it's time to deck the halls and make way for Santa Claus.

Old Saint Nick will be ushered into Atlanta-area Simon malls with fanfare and family-friendly activities in the coming weeks.

Reading is SWEET! campaign ends Monday

ATLANTA -- October is both National Book Month and National Cookie Month, so why not combine the two into a sweet book drive?

The second annual Reading is SWEET! National Book Drive, sponsored by Great American Cookies, runs through Monday, Oct. 31.

Throughout the month, the stores collected new and gently used books to be donated to local charities and public libraries. Everyone who donated a book received a free cookie.

"Last year's Reading is SWEET! program was a huge success, thanks to the efforts of our store owners, customers and community partners," said Jenn Johnston, chief marketing & operations officer for GFG Management, which manages Great American Cookies. "We're excited to continue the event for 2011 and can't wait to see how many books we can collect and how many cookies we can give away."

DULUTH, Ga. – Join the Haunted Theatre on Friday, October 28 for their Food Drive for local food banks.

Historically, during this time of year, the local food banks run low on food; to help stock up on food the Haunted Theatre is collecting canned goods and giving attendees $2.00 off their ticket price.

The Haunted Theatre is being held at The Red Clay Theatre which is located at 3116 Main Street in Duluth.
