Share your Mom with Great American Cookies and get a free brownie

ATLANTA – Tomorrow, all Great American Cookie locations will be giving away, free samples of their new Turtle and Red Velvet brownie flavors this Tuesday, March 15th. This giveaway is being held in conjunction with the company’s new contest looking for the “Great American Mom”.

The “Great American Mom” search is a nationwide search for mom’s to spotlight on Mother’s Day. The contest will open for entries starting March 15th and will continue through May 10th. To enter the contest, participants will be asked to compose a 200 word statement on what makes their mother a “Great American Mom”.

Winners will be announced in June when one Grand Prize winner will receive a luxurious Four Seasons spa getaway weekend for Mom and a guest plus a $1,000 travel voucher.

LAWRENCEVILLE – The inaugural Gwinnett Baseball Classic will be held on Wednesday, March 9th, beginning at 7PM. This matchup at Coolray Field is between two premiere college baseball teams, University of Georgia and University of Alabama.

Proceeds from this game will benefit the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta: Children’s Foundation. Tickets for the game will be sold at the door for $12 and doors open at 6PM.

Coolray Field is located at 1 Braves Avenue in Lawrenceville.

DULUTH – (submitted by The Hudgens Center)  The Hudgens Center has an exciting new Folk Art exhibit opening this month, featuring a wide range of colorful and creative work.  “We Are Folk: Exploring Traditions in Southern Folk Art” opens on Tuesday, March 8, and will be on view through May 21.  This Southern folk art and Georgia pottery exhibition was co-curated by Steve Slotin and Michael A.

The CREATE awards recognize several areas of achievement: Community Involvement & Collaboration (Fayette County), Regional Prosperity & Economic Development (City of Stone Mountain), Environmental Sustainability (Gwinnett County), Application & Innovation in Technology (Fulton County) and Educational Excellence (City of Decatur).

Families Invited to Celebrate Lunar New Year at Community Expo with Gwinnett Place and Mega Mart

The New Year brings another fun-filled celebration full of store sales, specials, activities and surprises for everyone in the family to Gwinnett Place on February 5! Children can enjoy activities such as an entertaining balloon artist and a bouncy house in Center Court. Guests are invited to sample various international delicacies courtesy of Mega Mart and pull up a chair so the entire family can enjoy various performances and live entertainment!

Looking for even more excitement? Bring mini fashionistas to center stage for a T.View fashion show and let karate kids participate in a demonstration from the Tiger Martial Arts Center. Local businesses including XXI Century Entertainment, The Dental Practice of Erin Bang DDS PC and more will be on property for presentations and giveaways.

Finally, it would not be a Kidgits Club member event without great prices! Members will have the opportunity to spin the special prize wheel for more goodies.

Gwinnett County K-9 Unit Pay Last Respects to 11-Year-Veteran Officer Aiko

On Wednesday, December 22nd, members of the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department are gathering to celebrate the life of K-9 Officer, Aiko. The eleven year veteran and right hand of Sargent Paul Corso, was most noted for his work with the Duluth “Run Away Bride” case in 2005.  

The services of Aiko will be held at Oak Rest Pet Gardens Funeral Home Cemetery located at 2691 Harbins Road, off Hwy. 316 in Dacula at 2:00 p.m. 

Oak Rest Pet Gardens donates its services as a tribute to K-9 Officers serving the public interest.   K-9 Officer “AIKO” will be laid to rest in the Garden of Honor at Oak Rest Pet Gardens alongside many other K-9 Officers previously laid to rest.

Services will include several of the Gwinnett Police Department K-9 Units.
