Hillsong United coming to Gwinnett

DULUTH, Ga. -- Australian Christian rock band Hillsong United will bring its "Welcome Zion" tour to Gwinnett County this fall.

The group will play at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Thursday, Nov. 21.

Tickets go on sale Friday, Aug. 9 at 10 a.m. and can be purchased at gwinnettcenter.com.

Hillsong United recently released Zion, its latest studio album. The summer leg of its "Welcome Zion" tour featured sold out shows in Phoenix, Dallas, Denver and Chicago, as well as a performance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles that attracted more than 15,000 fans.

Ga. SPCA holding 'Wizard of Oz'-themed fundraiser

DULUTH, Ga. -- The Georgia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will hold its biggest fundraiser of the year in September.

Tickets are currently on sale for "There's No Place Like Home," which will be held Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Gwinnett Center Ballroom.

Attendees are invited to dress as their favorite Wizard of Oz characters to keep with the event's theme. Festivities include food, music, a silent auction and visits from "Psycho Kitty" star Pam Johnson-Bennett and radio host Tim Link.

"This is our biggest fundraiser of the year. We depend on the money raised at this event to help us rescue and find homes for more than 1,100 homeless pets each year," Georgia SPCA executive director Jane Stewart said in a statement.

Tickets for "There's No Place Like Home" are $50 and can be purchased at oz.georgiaspca.org.

ATLANTA (June 14, 2013) – Join Chef Ford Fry as he hosts the fifth annual JCT. Kitchen Attack of the Killer Tomato Festival on Sunday, July 21 from 1-5 p.m. This year, more than 40 of the South’s top chefs along with 15 skilled mixologists and over 30 farmers are teaming up to create the tastiest tomato concoctions and to help raise money for Georgia Organics.

“Attack of the Killer Tomato Festival is absolutely one of my favorite events,” says Ford Fry, owner/chef of JCT. Kitchen & Bar, No. 246 and The Optimist. “I love seeing the creativity of all the participants and I’m looking forward to seeing what this year’s crop of talent comes up with,” he adds.

Tickets are now on sale for $55 per person and $50 for Georgia Organics members and can be purchased online through Xorbia. Starting Monday, July 1, all ticket prices will increase to $70 per person. A total of 1,400 tickets are available for attendees. Last year’s festival brought in close to $26,000 for Georgia Organics.

DULUTH, Ga. -- Award-winning crooner Michael Bublé will perform at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Sunday, Oct. 27.

Tickets for his show will go on sale this Friday, May 31 at 10 a.m.

Bublé has sold 45 million albums worldwide and recorded many hits during his decade-long career, including "Home," "Everything" and "Haven't Met You Yet."

"I'm very excited to get back on the road and perform for my fans. It's been a while, but we're rested up and ready to have a big party on stage every night," Bublé said in a statement.

ATLANTA -- Several Monkey Joe's locations in Georgia will host an event to raise money for Tripp Halstead's family.

Jump for Tripp will be held all day on Sunday, May 19. Ten percent of sales will benefit the family of the 2 year old, who was hit by a falling tree branch at his daycare center last October.

Dalai Lama coming to Emory, Gwinnett

Dalai Lama coming to Emory, Gwinnett

ATLANTA -- His Holiness the Dalai Lama will return to metro Atlanta this fall for a series of events.

The Dalai Lama is a Presidential Distinguished Professor at Emory University and will be on campus Oct. 8-10.

He will also give a public talk at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Tuesday, Oct. 8, beginning at 9:30 a.m. The event will feature two lectures -- "The Pillars of Responsible Citizenship in the 21st Century Global Village," and a panel discussion called "Secular Ethics and Education."

Tickets go on sale this week and include admission to both talks. They can be purchased beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday, Apr. 26.

'American Idol' tour coming to Gwinnett Center

'American Idol' tour coming to Gwinnett Center

DULUTH, Ga. -- The AMERICAN IDOL® LIVE! summer tour will stop at the Arena at Gwinnett Center again this year.

The 40-concert tour will be in Duluth on Sunday, Aug. 4. It will feature the singing show's top 10 finalists, plus 11th finalist Aubrey Cleland who fans voted to join the tour.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 3. A dollar of every ticket sold will go to the Melanoma Research Alliance.
