How to Save the most at consignment sales

ATLANTA -- The semi annual mega-consignment mega-sale known as Kidsignments is well underway and attracting huge crowds to the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds.

Some of the hugest bargains are on things that are really expensive new, such as DVD's and video games. "When you can get a Wii game for $5.00 it sure beats one for $50!" said Founder Jeri Lynn Cunningham.

Video games go fast so if they are on your list, hit that section early in your shopping trip.

Bicycles are another big ticket item that offer substantial savings.  Books can be found for pennies on the dollar.

Smart shoppers with rapidly growing children stock up on clothing for the fall and winter season.  Consignment sales are ideal places to find items children will only wear once or twice, like Halloween costumes or dressy holiday outfits.  "I'll probably save about $400 for this season," said Kelsey Hall, who was shopping for her baby and toddler.

Shoppers can get the most savings on clothing by seeking out popular high end brands like Ralph Lauren, Gymboree and Abercrombie and Fitch. Those items will also bring the most when it comes time to resell them.

What you need to know if you plan to shop at Kidsignments:

Shoppers must bring their own container. Examples are a trash can on wheels, wagon, large wheeled suitcase or laundry basket with a belt attached.   Expect long lines to pay for merchandise.

Hours are 10-7 Thursday, 10-6 Friday and Saturday.  Saturday is half price day: Many items are half price but those items that say NR on the tag are Not Reduced.
