Hertz employee describes killer, dies of gunshot wound

DULUTH, Ga. --  Gwinnett County Police are looking to the public to help find a man they believe shot and killed a Hertz Rental Car employee.

25-year-old Monique Marlowe was behind the store cleaning out a car when someone approached her, shooting her once in the abdomen. Once co-workers noticed she was missing, they went outside to check on Marlowe and found her bleeding on the ground.

Before she died, she was able to give police a brief description of the shooter: a black male wearing a blue shirt.

The shooting happened around 5:20pm near the intersection of Satellite Blvd and Merchants Way.

Despite happening in broad daylight near a busy intersection, police have very few clues and no eyewitnesses. They're asking for the public's help.

"Someone has to have seen something," said Gwinnett County Sgt. Rich Long. "We're counting on someone who might have been waiting on a bus, might have taken note of something unusual or seen someone walking from the direction of the Hertz to the bus station."

Hertz is directly beside the Gwinnett County Transit Center, near Gwinnett Place Mall and across the street from a QuikTrip gas station.

Police are looking for anyone in that area between 4:00pm and 5:30pm Friday. If you have information, please call 911 or Gwinnett Police at (770) 513-5333.
