Investigators said Thompson, 28, is accused of using a note and what appeared to be a hand grenade to demand money before escaping Tuesday morning.

Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Jake Smith said investigators believe Thompson was trying to flee to Miami when he was captured. He had a fake hand grenade in his possession.

The FBI said it believes Thompson was involved in two other bank robberies at Wells Fargo branches over the past week -- one in Doraville and the other in Buckhead.

Authorities say he produced a grenade during the Buckhead robbery but didn't produce one during the robbery in Doraville. The FBI even released photos showing the suspect handling a grenade during his confrontation with the bank teller.

No injuries were reported in Tuesday's robbery.

Thompson is being held without bond in the Gwinnett County Detention Center on an armed robbery charge.
