DULUTH, Ga. -- Georgia SPCA is gearing up for its 4th annual benefit bash, There's No Place Like Home on Sept. 7 at the Gwinnett Center Ballroom.

They recently released an updated list of their silent auction items in an effort to promote the event and encourage people to buy tickets to the fundraiser. They encourage everyone to come dressed as their favorite Wizard of Oz character, but casual dress is fine.

When you buy a ticket to this event it will not only help fund these programs, but will also help cover the care for over 1,000 dogs and cats that are brought to the non-profit shelter each year. Sept. 3 is the last day to buy tickets

DULUTH, Ga. -- Home is a word we often take for granted. Last year, over 100,000 adoptable animals were euthanized in metro Atlanta.

Georgia SPCA's mission is to drastically reduce this number by implementing successful adoption programs, offering low cost spay/neuter to the public, and by promoting responsible pet ownership through the education of our community.

"There's No Place Like Home," the Georgia SPCA's annual benefit, will be held Saturday, Sept. 7 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Gwinnett Center Ballroom.

Your tickets to, and/or sponsorship for, this event will help Georgia SPCA realize its goals and save the lives of many animals. Help us find the "yellow brick road" for more wonderful pets!

Gwinnett 'Feed a Friend' program to help pets through Moore, Okla. recovery

Gwinnett 'Feed a Friend' program to help pets through Moore, Okla. recovery

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- Following Monday's tornado that destroyed much of  Moore, Oklahoma, Gwinnett County Animal & Welfare Program is working to get food and other needs to pets in the storm-stricken area.

A Gwinnett official said it's their way of helping keep families together that are victims of the recent storm. Gwinnett units will collect pet food and pet supplies through a drive, then ship them to the only animal shelter still functioning in Moore.

The shelter in Moore has been flooded with displaced pets, which need to be cared for until the shelter matches them with their families.
