Georgia Gwinnett College's Annual Convocation

Yesterday, Georgia Gwinnett College officially welcomed more than 2,300 first-time students into its academic community through a convocation ceremony.

Convocation traditions are centuries old, their significance and purpose have not changed. GGC’s convocation ceremony is based on its commitment to student engagement and success.

A grand processional of students passed through the Arch of Knowledge into the ceremony area. They then took their seats on the quad, the first students to be honored in the college’s new ceremonial venue.  The program featured keynote speaker Dr. Jeffrey Rosensweig, director of the Global Perspectives Program at Emory University. Rosensweig encouraged the students to take full advantage of the opportunities, college presented them.

GGC’s convocation ceremony was attended by the college’s faculty, and hundreds of friends, family members and other guests.
