Atlanta Billiards Show, This Weekend

That Atlanta Billiards Show will make its debut at Gwinnett Center (6400 Sugarloaf Parkway, Duluth), this weekend, October 1-3, 2010.

The six nationally ranked players slated to appear are: Ga Young Kim (Ranked #1 2009 WPBA Player Rankings, 2010 US Open Winner) Allison “Dutchess of Doom” Fisher (Ranked #6 2009 WPBA Player Rankings), Karen Corr (Ranked #4 2009 WPBA Player Rankings), Betty Sessions of Conyers, GA (2009 US Amateur Women’s Champion), Monica “The Assassin” Webb of Douglasville, GA and Helena “The Sledgehammer” Thornfeldt.

Paul Flache will play with the Gladiators, again

The Gwinnett Gladiators, an East Coast Hockey League team, have announced their agreement to terms with Paul Flache for the 2010-2011 season.

Flache, previously, skated with the Gladiators for three seasons from 2004-2007.  In 2004, he scored the game winning overtime goal for Gwinnett that sent the Gladiators to the Western Conference Finals. In three seasons with the Gladiators, Flache earned 33 points in 110 career games in Gwinnett.  .

Flache also appeared in the American Hockey League from 2003-2006 with Chicago and Bridgeport. He was also chosen by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft with the 144th overall pick in the 5th round.

The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.?

Gwinnett Beats Durham 6-4: Sweeps Two Game Series

The Lead:  The Gwinnett Braves beat the Durham Bulls 6-4 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, NC.  The Braves sweep the two game series and win the season series over the IL Southern Division Champions, 12-9.  With the win, the Braves are now 71-69 on the season with three games left to play.  The Bulls are 86-54.

It Was Over When: Braves center fielder Antone Richardson drew a bases loaded walk off of Durham reliever Jake McGee in the top of the eighth.  It broke a 4-all tie and gave the Braves a lead they would never lose.  Barbaro Canizares hit a solo homer in the ninth—his 13th of the season—to provide the final margin of victory.
